Where to Find Us

Undergraduate Teaching

Earth Science involves the study of how our planet is built, how it works and how its precious resources can be located and used. Geology and Geophysics is one of the most diverse of the sciences covering everything from meteorites to dinosaurs and from gold deposits to volcanoes.  The Discipline, within the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, provides a world-class concentration of research and education on the University of Adelaide's North Terrace Campus.

We offer two exciting undegraduate degree programs, the Bachelor of Science (Mineral Geoscience) and the Bachelor of Science (Petroleum Geoscience).  Our three majors in the Bachelor of Science Program are Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Geoscience, as illustrated in this printable pathway document.

Honours

For many students, the decision to do Honours is a natural choice at the end of their Bachelor of Science degree.  The major goal of our Honours programs is to equip you with a wide range of skills that will allow you to tackle graduate employment programs of further postgraduate research with confidence!

Fieldwork

Geoscience fieldwork at the University of Adelaide is a vision to teach students about our planet's dramatic history and how to best understand and use its resources. Fieldwork throughout the four year programme (undergraduate and Honours) is integrated to cover all major aspects of geoscience and to train University of Adelaide students in how to best investigate and interrogate the Earth.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Prizes

Our Prizes and Awards
Geology and Geophysics at the University of Adelaide has a long and proud history of interaction with the minerals and petroleum industries and with South Australia's Geological Survey (PIRSA). Professional geoscience societies in our state have done much to foster training and encourage our undergraduates. Additionally, there have been many colourful and highly respected individuals in the geoscience field who have had a strong impact in shaping Geology and Geophysics over the years. The prizes  reflect the history of our connection to those individuals, organisations and companies.
