Prospective Postgraduate Students

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) is the pathway of choice for many Honours students wishing to further their research education. We provide a safe, intellectually challenging environment, and have a vibrant and diverse group of postgraduate students who come from around Australia and the world to learn from and work with our renowned academic staff.

To embark on your postgraduate studies in EES you should first discuss possible research topics in consultation with your nominated supervisor(s).  To locate a potential supervisor please refer to this page's 'Where to Start' section. The School of EES provides all its postgraduate students with their own desk and computer, as well as access to the technologies and equipment required for both laboratory and fieldwork.

Research Qualification

Pursuing a research qualification allows a post graduate student to participate in innovative research projects in all areas of Earth & Environmental Sciences.

Contact the staff member(s) working in research areas of interest to you; contact details for staff are available in the above documents or via the Staff Directory pages. Let these staff know you are interested in undertaking postgraduate work with them. They can provide detailed information about projects on offer and other important information.

Step 3

Apply to the University for enrolment.

If you are an Australian student:
Obtain a copy of the University Postgraduate Prospectus. This Adobe Pdf document provides important information about applying to the University to enrol in Postgraduate programs. Information about Postgraduate Scholarships can be obtained from the Postgraduate Scholarships website.

If you are an International student:
Please visit the Adelaide University International Programs Website. This resource provides information about Adelaide, the University, Application procedures, Scholarships available to International Students, University Contacts and Overseas representatives, as well as other information.

NOTE: the deadlines for Enrolment and scholarship applications usually must be submitted to the University by 31 August (international students) and 30 September (Australian residents) of the year preceding the proposed year of commencement. Make sure to verify due dates with the enrolment office to avoid any confusion.
